to start things off i am new to this site and i will appreciate any ideas anyone might have. my problem started the other day i was driving down the road and when i stepped on the gas it was like it was in neutral i had no gears what so ever not even in 4 wheel drive. i parked it and came back the next morning and it did the same thing so i shifted it into 4 wheel and then back out i got my gears back. i started home only to realize something was terribly wrong. to make a long story short, it feels as if my truck is stuck in 4 low . i have checked the shift motor and it is working fine i moved the transfer case into 2 high while i had it off. 4 high and 4 lo both engage and disengage normally. but it still feels as if im in 4 lo i can only get up to 35 miles per hour at about 3000rpm and then it wants to buck.my front wheels turn free in 2 wheel drive and the front drive shaft moves freely. any idea as why it still feels like it is 4low?the truck has a 4.6 with 4r70w trans. any idea or answer will be greatly appreciated. david
when i take off i can count that it is going through the gears but it seems like i am stuck in low range 4by4 but i can only get to 35mph at 3000 rpm and i know i am reaching overdrive as when i push the overdrive button it will actually shift down and the rpms will go higher. when i hit 35 mph the mottor starts bucking really bad also. david could it possibly be transmi8ssion range sensor?
If it is shifting to overdrive there is nothing wrong with ANYTHING on the transmission. Your problem is in the transfer case. I don't know how to troubleshoot the transfer case.
