'76 seat belt upgrade...
I'd like to upgrade the lap only seatbelts in my '76 to shoulder & lap like in '77 & up trucks. I went to the junk yard and saw that the upper attachment point in the cab requires pretty major modification. There's a large hole with a reinforcing bracket spot welded in that holds the belt reel at an angle. Also, I'm reluctant to trust junk yard belts as they look pretty crummy and could be weak. I suppose I could still get new belts from the dealer and I don't mind drilling, cutting, and bolting. I'd prefer not to weld though.
Are there any nice bolt-in aftermarket setups that work especially well for '73-'76 trucks? It should use a single belt with a retractor. Has anybody done this upgrade sucessfully?
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks,
-Jim

'76 seat belt upgrade...
I didn't have seat belts and wanted shoulder belts. I got a set from julianos.com. They are pretty expensive, but seem well designed. I have used them for more than six months.
No welding is required, a 4" spoon is added to the b pillar behind the window frame on the cab. The below floor anchor plates were a problem for me as the best place for them was also where a seam is in the cab floor (1964 F100).
