I have an inline 6 300, I am wanting a 302 V8, the transmission I have is the 5spd Mazda/Toyo Kogyo. My question is will the 302 bolt up to this transmission?? I appreciate any help with this!

I'll take that engine offa ya if you want.
No, seriously, I don't believe it will (what yr is it?) w/o expensive adaptors, bell changes etc...one of the more knowledgable folks will B along shortly. I'd suggest U keep your head down tho, U C where U posted? we really, really like that engine.
1+ 86sixbanger,as for as I know the bells are the same, and I know the trans would fit the 302 bell,if you have it anyway. Is your 300 in bad shape or do you just want to buy more gas?
What I have read as long as it is a sbf it will bolt up i.e. 300,302,351w, and I think 351m but it maybe c I'm not sure. But again the 300 makes the same if not more power at a lower rpm and uses less gas doing it. Unless your are going for a race truck or have a really good deal on a 302 and your 300 is worn out I would stick with the 300.
Thanks for all of the replies...my 300 seriously needs rebuilt, it has NO compression...But the reason for the 302 is for the sound and we got a good deal on it...we are raising the bronco and putting 36's instead of the current 33's and restoring it....but main reason is to get rid of all of the EFI crap!!! Thanks again for all the info

Sorry, I wanted to welcome you to the forum. You will find some very knowledgable people here. Ck out your local OK (state) chapter on this site (FTE) for feet on the ground, local contacts.
Again, more seriously, I'll take the 300 offa you. One w/EFI head/exhaust is worth it (even w/zero compression) for the Tg derived from a freshened motor. You may B able to fund some project(s) or your bronco rebuild from sellin it. Look around, do some research, become informed - knowledge is power . I6 has power beyond V8.

hey, buster! how goes it, buddy?
Christy, the 302 is ok if you guys are gonna do a performance type rebuild/restoration. Otherwise, i agree with these other fellers.....stay with a six
I hope you build up that 302 before putting it in place of the EFI 300.
I'm not anti-302 but a carb'd 302 makes less power than an EFI 300.
You won't like the feel in performance loss.
Build up the 302 and do a gear swap to 4.10. You'll have a "Mighty Lil' Beast" of your own.
Good luck!

A stock carb'd 302 rated at 130hp, 250tq.
EFI 300 is 150hp, 265tq, and at lower RPMs.
Since you're taking out a 300, your truck is probably geared for it, which will make it even more of a dog with the 302. Regearing is recommended.
Aside from that, motor mounts are different between the two engines, so that'll be your biggest issue. You're dealing with a manual tranny, so you fortunately don't have any computer controlled stuff to deal with.
