MAF conversion write up?

looking for a write up, not a lecture on how its pointless...i want to convert to MAF when i rebuild the 300 so i can build more power into it without blowing up the SD system

i have heard a bit of this being done mostly junkyard stuff...i know it would be a lot of work to swap over to 96 OBDII system and i think the few 95s that had MAF also had OBDII so they are no help, but i have heard that a computer and MAF system from a 351W can be modified to run the 300?

i really want to find a way to do this and i am up for the work...

if there is anyone who has done it please chime in and share your experience...

again, this is not to discuss the benefits and what not of SD to MAF conversion, i searched it and that has been discussed many times...this is simply to find the easiest/cheapest way to do it...the kits for the v8s sell for $1800 and there are none in existance for the 300 (to my knowlege)

my truck is a 95 with M5OD, soon to be Zf 5-speed

and i plan a rebuild for the summer and it sickens me that ford made these SD systems, they only accept small power gains (about 15%) anything more and the ECU gets all sorts of confused and then there are problems...

think there is some info at

Ford Fuel Injection

for that conversion. Most of the stuff is described for the v8 but atleast on my 88. The only difference from the v8 harnesses to my 300 was a different injector harness plugged in. and diff computer.

Good luck and if you do it please let us know how it went.

I did not do the conversion but the ECM chart lists 87-95 so yours should be the same. I just read the article to convert a SD mustang with a4od to MAF being curious about the gains.

Not that the ECMS are exactly the same, but the same basics inputs are used, looks like a serial data line was added 90-95 would have to sort that out
