Looking for more info on FE heads. The numbers are 2153 head bolt 575 On a diffrent subject timing covers. which is better newer or older and why the design change. thanks in advance.
The casting numbers are as posted above, also these heads are a little different in exhaust area by the design, Instead of thin casting ridge into a much thicker area. The top is thin all way to the valve cover lip. Sorry about the way of wording casting numbers. Again 2153 head bolt 575 Also thanks again. Timing covers ???

Sorry for any confusion on my part. I can't say that I ever saw an older set of these heads, nor do I recall anyone ever commenting on their characteristics (good or bad). I guess my personal preference would be to stick with a set of heads which were either original to my application or go with a set of "proven" heads for performance. These may be valuable to the restorer of that vintage FE.
There is a forum which discusses only FE related issues. Perhaps you can get additional information there. Go to www.fomoco.com and link to the tech forum. Use the search feature on that forum to find recent thread which mentions this other "FE-only" Forum. As to the timing cover, I'm going to suspect it's also from an early vintage FE since it doesn't have the traditional C or D prefix. I have nothing to back that up though.
In the Ford Truck Enthusiasts tool bar select links then when the links come up on the left of screen go to Ford Car Sites then scroll down you should see the site FE CLUB of AMERICA. You might find more info thru them goodluck.
