So I currently work for a glass company, and I know it sounds strange but i don't really have to mess with a lot of glass. What I have been doing a lot of is cutting caulking out from around window frames. So while struggling with the standard razor blade style utility knife, I thought " Wouldn't it be great if there was an electric knife available?". So I've been searching the web for some sort of tool, and the closest thing I can find is a black and decker mini reciprocating saw. Was thinkin about getting one and modifying it to fit my needs. Before I go to that much trouble, has anyone ever heard of a power tool specifically designed to cut through thick expansion joint caulking around window frames?
I got an electric fish fillet knife that I use for all sorts of things. Fillet fish, carve turkey, shape seat foam, styrofoam. Different length blades, serrated. Don't know if it would work for your application, haven't tried that.
Thanks guys. I found the fein tools, but the price is crazy high, and I even went to harbor freight the other day, but I really need something in the cordless variety. I agree with air tools being better, I was an allison transmission tech for 5 years, and have many air tools in my box. The only issue is that on a construction site there there is seldom an air supply to be found. I did find somethin that caught my eye though. I got a nice lookin linolium knife that seams like it might work pretty good. Gonna give it a try this week and see how it does. Oh yeah, the hook blades are very good but this caulking is about 1-2 inches thick, and the standard blade just isn't big enough.
Rented from beekeeping family who used a cordless 'uncapping knife' for shimming the caps off bee hive before extracting the honey, worked great for that purpose.
Seen couple multifunction tool manufactureres come out with a cordless. Seem to recall cheapest running around $100, may have been a Craftsman. Kinda pricey for tool that may not meet that particular application. On the otherhand, I purchased an inexpensive variable speed multifuntion tool and found it invaluable for number of applications.

Bosch used to offer this: Bosch PS50-2A, Lithium ion Cutting Kit - Bosch Cordless Tools but I don't see it on their website: Welcome to BoschTools.com
I don't know how long a battery would last for the amount of work you need to do.
The reviews say it can use Fein accessories so I assume the hook blades available from glass suppliers like CRL will fit as well.
