I just purchased my Ford F 250 superduty 2002 with a 5.4 triton V8.
My back up sensor system worked for one day. Today, I noticed the light that indicated the back off sensing system is off ...was illuminated indicating the system was off. I tried to turn in on and it would not turn on??? When I start my truck, I hear a small churp. When the truck is in drive, I can turn the system on, but as soon as I put my truck in reverse, the light illuminates and indicats the system is off.
What gives?
I checked the fuses under the dash and all are good.
I purchased a Haynes repair manual, and they are pretty much useless on these issues.
Wow. Well, you could probably pick up a used working sensor at a salvage yard cheaper or if you can find a buddy with the same setup, borrow one of theirs just to test.
I"m going to go get some electrical contact cleaner and try cleaning it again. After I hit it with electrical contact cleaner, i'm going to clean the connections with compressed air.
is there no other way to test these things out. I have had the same issue since i bought my truck two weeks ago. Will sensors from any superduty/excursion work.
I don't think there have been any changes to the sensors themselves if you're just looking for one to use as a tester. I believe the appearance changed on the '08+ trucks so if you got one from an earlier truck to test with and found a bad sensor you needed to replace, you'd need to get one for that model year if you're concerned with the looks matching and the correct fitment. I believe the sensors in the '08 trucks fit a little differently as the bumper contour changed.
well his truck has been there for it leaking antifreeze all over the place, and just a couple of weeks ago they finally figured out it was the head gasket. after two years of the same issue four egr coolers, and whatever goes along with it. O and the truck only has 40,000 miles on it
my 01 does that same thing! when i baught it i made the dealer diagnose the problem and get me the parts.......$500 backup module wasnt it. im leaning to the switch but havent messed with it in over a year.
