No noticeable loss between 5K oil changes. Ready for first change on synthetic and oil still at same level.
If you have no noticeable loss in 5000 miles, I'd get an oil analysis done, you're probably getting some fuel dilution or something else in the oil that doesn't belong there.

I disagree,i run Rotella synthetic, and change it every 5000 miles with no noticable loss of any oil.
I don't think I burn any oil really except for really hard cold starts. When I first switched to Schaeffer 9000 fully synthetic, it created a leak. ~1.5qts per 3,000 miles... It didn't leak like that before I swapped to synthetic oil. I was tired of pissing money away and switched back to dino. Either the leak has stopped, or has turned into a very minor weep. Maybe it's because of the colder weather. IDK. So far over 3,000 miles on this dino oil change and not a drop low.
I don't get an oil analysis, but when i check my oil,i smell it for fuel, and when i change my oil,i smell it for fuel too.Other than that i don't know.
Ahhhhhh, olfactory analysis.
So have you ever added diesel to your used oil until you could smell it to calibrate your instrument? Just curious about how much fuel it takes until one can discern the smell. Most diesel oils have a fairly strong odor of their own.
