Nice tip for you guys that like to play: Spray Fluid Film on your rear quarters before doing burnouts and the rubber from the tires will just wipe right off.

If it dosn't spin the tires then , your getting good traction or your truck has no ***** . A burnout is done at the strip in the water box to heat up big slicks that need to be hot to hook up good. Most street tires & drag radials don't need alot of heat to work good , so a long burnout is not nessesary . Doing this on the street dose nothing IMO. Take it to the strip or a nice wide road with no traffic or side roads . You want your truck to jump out of the hole with the least amount of tire spin as possable , traction bars , ladder bars, tires , shocks all help with this ....Lew

I think I owe an apology to the board since I am sure that my response to the original burn out thread probably was on the top of the list as to why it was closed.

In reality if someone wanted to go to some place away from traffic, houses, and people in general and spin their tiers until they catch fire go for it. My issue with comes from people who do it in high population/traffic areas, forcing non participants to deal with the noise, stink, and potential loss of control.

My neighborhood has a lot of threw traffic, and an elementary school just down the street that many children walk to since there is no buss service to the school. when it is summer out all windows are open and the smoke/stink wafts right in, and at 3am a guy doing a burn out in his truck is low on the list of things I want to wake up to. (and yes one of the times this guy did his burn out was at 3am) calling the police does nothing because by the time they get there all that's left is a strip of rubber and my hear say report.

You may not agree with my actions to take his mirror off his truck, but it got the desired result. If the guy ever hung around my neighbor hood long enough for me to have a face to face talk with him I would have, but he was never around long enough for me and him to chat, and yelling at him while he did the burn out just got me the middle finger. (I am also not the only one in the neighborhood to have yelled at him, so he knew full well what he was doing was not appreciated)

I get that breaking things and making noise can be fun, so I can see where someone would get enjoyment out of a burn out (and in this sense wearing down your tiers is what I am referring to when I say breaking things) Hell thats half the reason I like going out shooting, but I do it in an area far away from people who don't want to be subject to the noise.

So I apologize, my response was a little harsh and without context, in the right setting have as much fun with burn outs as you want, just dont force others to have to deal with outcome of the burn out.

I like burnouts...

'cause I work for a tire company and it keeps me in business..

In all reality, I don't see anything wrong with it PROVIDED it is done in a safe place (preferably private property) with little chance of personal or property damage. I have done my share in the past either drag racing, burnout contests or (I am sad to say) drifting..

As for on the street, especially a busy one, I think it winds up drawing way too much of the wrong kind of attention.. and that doesn't help any of us who are into loud fast cars, bikes, or lifted trucks..

Just my .02

Like I've explained twice now, I have no issue with people doing burnouts. I just don't want burnouts directly in front of my house.

When a thread is closed, it's not wise to start another one on the same subject, and just because you didn't get a chance to have your say is way far from being a valid reason. There were several reasons I closed the first burnout thread, not the least of which was the language. The other main reason was for the insults and personal attacks, and I am already seeing some rudeness going on here. I'll leave this open for now, but I'll be watching it closely...

They can't filter out everything. We have to rely on people to at least follow the guidelines which every one of you signified as to having read when you signed up on the site by checking the box. It's very simple: This is a family-oriented site, don't use foul language. Here's the section of the guidelines that covers it, for those of you who didn't bother to read the guidelines and just checked the box to continue with your registration when you signed up:

2. Personal Conduct . Post language and material suitable for the home or office. Do not post foul language, racial epithets or sexually explicit content in any form. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

There. 'Nuff said...
