maintance cost

can any one tell me where is the best plase to buy oil and fuel filters for a 08 250 6.4? the ford deal charged me as much for a 10,000 mile service as Kenworth charges to service my road tractor, which holds 15 gallons of oil.. REDICULES

get filters from parts guy ed and your oil, shop around for the best price on Rottella T

i usually get mine from TSC stores cheaper than the shell dealer and they carry the fram oil filters which have the exact patent number on them as the motorcraft ones.

and the other parts and fuel fiters i just order them from partsguyed and they are the best price. delivered to my door!

SDsquirrel, do you have a wal-mart near you?

5 quart jugs of MC 15w40 are $12 each. Motorcraft FL2016 oil filters are around $18. You'll also need a 36MM socket to remove the oil filter.

$36 for oil, $18 for the filter plus sales tax = ~$60 oil change.

I did mine for the first time last weekend and it was the easiest oil change I've ever done. I slid under the truck on a creeper without jacking it up to remove the drain plug, and the oil filter is a no-mess 30 second procedure on top of the engine. The hardest part was pouring the nearly 4 gallons of oil into the engine without spilling any!

Just a bit of info. My dealership charges about 79.95 for the oil change, and around 145 for the fuel filters. It is cheaper to do it yourself. The oil change for 79 bucks really isn't bad, but the fuel filters are kinda a rip off. It would be in your best interest to run ONLY Motorcraft filters in your truck. I'm not saying they ARE the best (I personally think they are, and have seen hundreds of reasons why), but Ford's Warranty has tightened its belt. It will only continue to get stricter, and having a failure of some sort with aftermarket filters installed is only one more reason they could possibly deny a warranty. There is a few little tricks to make changing the fuel filters easier BTW, such as bleeding the air out of the system. Also remove the oil filter from the housing BEFORE draining the oil from the pan (just gets a little bit more of the old oil out of the truck).

www.partsguyed.com is the website.

I get my oil from autozone, they don't have the filters (fuel or oil) but I get them from Ed if I am going to change myself.

I got my air filter & fuel/water filters from DieselFiltersOnline.com
The price for air filter = $50.95 and both fuel filters = $ 46.95
Shipping was about $9.00... I get my oil filters at Autozone for $19.99

You can pickup your fuel filters directly from international. They come with the upper an lower filter plus the o ring for the upper cap. I believe the kit is about $32. If you buy the same kit from Ford, you will get raped. I don't have the pn with me, but I am sure someone can chime in and add it. I believe it is also in the tech folder. For your oil filter, you can get it at most autoparts stores or walmart. Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy one of the cheap oil filters where you actually discard your OEM oil filter cap. I have read about many who have fallen into this trap. The motorcraft and fram are identical and cost within $1 of each other. Be sure to install the new oring on the filter cap for both oil and upper fuel filters. Easy jobs and you will save a ton of money!!
