Coolant leak ?

I have noticed the last few days when it is really cold outside that I have a small leak under the front center of the engine... it does not leak when it is running or when it is warmer outside... any ideas? truck has 49k on it and the oil cooler and egr cooler were replaced about 6 months ago...

Could be the egr cooler hose. Look at the engine vally see if it's wet.

I agree, classic egr cooler hose symptoms.

coolant

I get coolant smell under load, dealer could not find any leak with pressure
test. I have had to add coolant about 1 1/2 gal over the last 6 mo. and it
looks nasty. the dealer found a bad turbo, and high pressure regulator bad
could this be the trouble with coolant also. help. fighting with dealer

If your coolant looks nasty I recommend at the least a complete flush and adding a coolant filter.

Are you still under warranty (5 yr /100k miles)? If so, either take it back and complain OR find a new (better) dealership!

The coolant has nothing to do w/ the turbo and the pressure regulator (which pressure regulator BTW?).

Sounds like a high pressure oil leak when you say "it won't start when warm".

yes it still is under warranty. the dealer replaced the fuel regulator.
I own my own shop but we do not work on deisels plus it has warranty.
I just did a combustion leak test. truck has combustion gases in coolant.
dealer needs new tech. I guess it`s time to get mad and start to yell.
I paid the deductible and they need to fix it.

Combustion gasses in the coolant means head gaskets.

Typically head gasket problems don't cause "no start" issues, so it seems you have several issues going on. Sounds like time to get mad - as you said.

As stated they need a new tech that knows what is giong on and not
just put parts on. find the real trouble and fix it. It is going back on
monday. they will get one last chance to get it right.
