i am new to powerstroke bought a 95 first loved it now a 99 was told you can convert to a singel fire injection more power better fuel econamy so can you.
Yes you can switch to single shot injectors. All you need is some custom tuning to make it run right. The favorites here are DP-Tuner or Tony Wildman at Total Diesel Performance.
Of course if you want to upgrade injectors and add a chip, you really also need to upgrade the intake, exhaust, and add some gauges at a minimum. A wicked wheel or new compressor housing will help the turbo with any surge issues. A shift kit and auxillary cooler for the auto tranny guys is also a good idea.
Might seem like a lot of stuff to add for a set of injectors, but it will be like a completely different truck after a good chip is installed.
Edit: Some have issues with a rough or cammy type idle after switching to single shot injectors and prefer live tuning to smooth things out after the injector swap. What part of the country are you located in?
louisiana, want to make mods a littel at a time but i own 5 trucks i dont need to drive it between mods this is more my wifes truck but my project 99 f250 quad cab 4x4
SO its the tuner that changes the PCM from a dual shot to single ??
No, it's the injector itself.
The issue with tuning is the pulsewidth, ICP, and injection timing must be adjusted to run correctly when switching from a split shot to a single shot... and vice versa.

Where in La are you? Rick (miller_feed) is near Lake Charles and has single shots in his '01 dually. He could give you a ride and then you'll be "hooked".
The difference in fueling between split-shot and single-shot injectors is shown below. If you're interested in maximizing the "Life Expectancy" of your engine then "single-shot injectors" aren't for you! Eventually I'll be discussing this point along with many others that impact engine wear and tear in a planned thread with the title...Life Expectancy Curves... Human vs Stock 7.3L

....gonna be interesting to see this report. First time I have heard of this issue....
I'm with you Rich! It's snowing and blowing, and I have yet to go out and feed the livestock.
According to the graph, they both create the same pressure, with the other factor being time. But if something is designed to hold a certain PSI, time is irrelevant, whether it's 5 seconds or 5 years. So how does one reduce longevity of the engine over the other?
