OH, as far as heating and tuning the engine,All thats there is the bottom casing,I got the needle and all that out,I can see the top of the piston thru the hole.Heat dosent sound like a bad idea?
I dont know about the washers,When I took the injectors out I dont think they were on there,I tried to clean out the holes as best I could,I took a sharp srewdriver and scraped slighty around the bottom of the hole triying to see some copper in there.I also know the drunk "mechanic" that supposedly put new injectors in in1998.
no its not going to damage the piston, if you dont block its flight path with a block of wood then you might end up with a nice nipple on the hood lol. rick if you try to drill in out then you might end up pulling the heads off anyway because i would think the end of the injector would fall into the precup. im not to crazy about the bullet injector idea but ive heard of people removing broken gp tis this way. what im trying to say is i think this would be my last resort before pulling the heads. i think i would fine some kind of solvent that breaks carbon down real good and soak it for a couple of days letting it sink in real good. if there is any way posible that you can get that top half to screw into the bottom half even if its cross threaded i think you would stand a possibe chance of getting the bottom injector half to turn breaking the carbon. possibly try tapping the top of the injector with a hammer while trying to screw the top half back into the injector plus the light taps of the hammer might break the carbon up enough to retrieve the bottom half. just remember to tap and not wail on it lol.
Thanks,Ill try to find some solvent,I didnt know carbon buildup got so hard.Im just at my end with this project,Every time I touch any thing it seems to turn to POO-POO. I gues that happens somtimes
By heat I'm talking about just a little to draw the solvent in not melting anything lol
Tate it sounds like the easyout brohe part of it out the threads doesn't sound like an option or I would not even mentioned the compression idea.
Last time someone had this problem they ground the threads off the outside of the upper part of the injector.
Then attached a slide hammer to the upper part, screwed the injector back together and popped it out with the slide hammer.
I have also read posts where they ground the threads off the outside of the upper section and kept spinning the injector putting up pressure on it and it eventually screwed out.
You loose a core, but you also get the stuck injector out.
Never done this but what would happen if you soaked it with pb pretty good and let it soak, then heated it just a little with a propane torch and crank the motor over. would the compresion shoot it out. If I tried this I would block its path with a block of wood.
This would be a last resort but I would try it before I pulled a head, then again I'm lazy.
In the old days on heavy equipment serviced in the field injectors were unbolted and blown out by cranking the engine sometimes. A complete injector is quite a missile that can kill. They would ding the steel covering over an engine.
As was noted by another wood would be a good catcher. A piece of plywook should stop one from hitting the closed/lowered hood I would think.
heat gun, solvent, heatgun, solvent......repeat till free. It should most definitely work. by heat gun i mean the ones that will burn wood melt plastic, etc. Just dont set it on fire!!!
Good morning boys,I have a good heat gun, what kind of solvent should I look for?I have been using PB blaster,I have to go into town today so I can look for somthing else if need be.With todays highs only in the 30s I dont think I will work on it today.Im going to build me one of those slide hammer pullers in case this happens again.
if you do it right, you shouldnt have the same problem. For the solvent, anything that breaks up carbon deposits. possible and intake cleaner or similar. ask the parts guy what he thinks will destroy carbon buildup fastest, get that!
