Just an FYI...

My 6.0 is still, and always will be, awesome.

Don't have a line to the new garage that will hold the power of the block heater. Days/weeks on end not getting higher than 30F, many starting in the low teens. Yet, I prime my glow plugs, and she starts right up, every time.

So if you, too, are on board with the 6.0 being awesome, lets hear it. Don't let those silly 7.3 or 6.4 guys think they're better than you, because you have the smooth and awesome power of the flawless 6.0.

Pretty impressive mileage there gearloose...

I also enjoy my psd, but to be honest I think I would give these engines a B- rating for reliability and dependability and the engine that broke the Ford/International long term business relationship and with articles in magazines that explain how to fix the every 6.0 psd problem

Let's just hope the 6.7 produces steller performance with long term reliability!

This is good....Most of the time all you ever hear is complaints about the 6.0 psd. I hope I don't jinx it....but mine runs like a top. Yesterday started at -17C unplugged. Idle smoothed out within 30 seconds of starting up and no smoke. Pulls my 8000lb trailer and another 1200lbs in the bed and still can pull off 12-13mpg at 115kph. Love my 6.0 diesel.

After the 6.0 had been out for a couple of years, most of the problems had been identified with this engine. Albeit, a lot of design flaws that should have been dealt with on the drawing board. Now that the 6.0 has been around for a while, maintenance knowledge has improved greatly. Many of us buy them used and usually with some inherited problems. But once you get the EGR problems, both valve and cooler & the oil cooler straightened out. Add a few reliabilty mods...and maybe they're not so bad. I've been lucky, no head issues so far. However that would have to be on the to-do list as well for these engines.
If I go for a 6.7 it won't be in the 1st or 2nd year of production. I'll wait to see what bugs are going to show up. I know Ford has high hopes for this engine and I like what I see so far. But....I think I'd wait and see. I think a solid B would be ok.

86,500...STC fitting, FICM, Turbo...but I love her. She's a keeper and I'll drive her until one of my future grandkids gets the keys.

Yes I agree maintenance is an importment factor to keeping these engines healthy right down to using only Motorcraft Oil Filters & Fuel Filters.

Also I've noticed on this forum from the many years lurking here there are alot of loyal 6.0 psd guys here and a few that gave up, but still very impressive on how many people are dedicated to share there experinces to help others keep their 6.0 going strong.

So here's my final ratings:

6.0 psd (Factory configuration): B-
6.0 psd Loyal owners helping others: A+++

Mine has not been perfect, but it has treated me pretty good lately. It sure is fun to drive and pulls our 5th wheel with relative ease. I have no plans of getting rid of it anytime soon. I appreciate everyone's help on FTE for getting me through the issues.

I've had my share of problems, although I admit most, if not all, were due to my messing with it, so I really can't fault the ole girl there. However, having said that, even when she was starting to act up, she never left me stranded and always got me back home and that's aces in my book.

I bought my first f250 right after purchasing a new fifth wheel. It was a used 99 v10 extended cab with a full banks intake, exhaust, etc. it ran like a scalded dog. The kids got bigger so we upped to a used 99 7.3 which had led a rough life but I wasn't sure I'd like the diesel. It pulled better then the v10. When it wore out we bought our current 04 CC with 10,000 on it. It now has 92,00 with only being in the shop once for the ERG oil cooler blow up. That was while on vacation about five miles from our camp ground, but the truck was fixed under warranty and ready by the time we had to head home. So I'm damn happy with the truck. I keep looking at new ones but can't seem to give up what I have in this one. Maybe the 6.7 will sway me in a year or so but then again maybe not.
