Hey guys/gals, I'm not sure if the answer to this question is already on this forum(ima newb on this forum), but i have a 05 f150 4.6L supercab and want to put a plow on it. It has 66k on it.... Please give you your comments and opinions! Also if you can recommend sites, prices, etc. That would help extremely! Thanks
Visit www.plowsite.com and look in the Ford Trucks section. As well as all of the sections for the many different plow brands. Great site, helpful people and all.
On my 07, I have a Fisher SD (standard duty) 7.5' plow. Works great.
Putting a plow on it will essentially destroy your truck. It will rip apart the tranny, cause tons of rust, put un needed stress on it. I dont reccomend it at all.
Not to mention you can kiss your resale value good bye.
But yea stop by plowsite, im a member there, its a great site. You will find tons of articles about plowing with a 1/2 ton.
I would never suggest putting a plow on a 1/2 ton truck ever. Sure, it may work, but it isn't built for that type of work. 3/4 ton is the smallest truck I would ever consider a plow on.
welcome to fte,
like already posted id suggest a real lightweight plow, and put in stiffer springs to help out
i have a 04 350 5.4 with a 8' meyer and just rebuilt my front end this summer at 60,000 miles
they do tear sh@# up but a little common sense and a quarter car wash when done plowin to get the salt off will make the truck last a lot longer
I have been getting about the same comments from my friends and people i know. Thanks guys for your help. Will probably stay away from a plow with this thing, not to mention im broke, haha.
