I'm leaking coolant out of the base of my water pump. Somebody told me yesterday that when a water pump goes they start leaking water from the case. Does this sound right? Also, I've noticed that my upper radiator hose never has pressure to it and never feels like there is water flowing through it. Is that how it is on yalls? Thanks
X2 what oldbird said about the gasket vs the weep hole at the bearing. About the pressure you wont have much unless you really get it hot and these trucks really do a good job of cooling em selves down. A piece of advice though I changed my water pump recently and the factory uses a special shaped oring as a gasket seal, I went and put a real thin coat of silicone water pump gasket style in the groove for the oring and again on the surface of it to ensure a better seal.
If you don't have any pressure you need a new radiator cap. Or have a leak. It should be building pressure in it if the water gets even warm. Caps don't last very long,
Also If I were going to do a water pump gasket, I'd be replacing the pump too.
There is a small hole on the underside of the pump where the seal will leak out of if it goes bad.
