I try to park away from the store as well and center myself in the parking space so as not to offend those who are rightious about parking etiquette. When I see someone taking two spaces, I just don't park near them and don't really get bothered by it. That being said. I still find that, if you have a nice ride...no matter how far away you park...no matter how neatly you are between the lines and there's plenty of other empty spaces to choose from... Some numpty will park some old rusty POS next to yours just because he/she feels it's their right to be an

Reason: profanity
When people take up two spaces I will park as close to them as possible to make a point ... or I'll say something to them if I have the chance. And if I could get away with it I'd key the sucker. I think, feel and act like this for all those people who have trouble walking and also for those that are handicapped and all their spots are filled with lazy insensitive non-handicapped people's vehicles. Having that extra spot open would save these people a lot of pain. If the doublespacers are only going to think of themselves and inconvence others in the process then they should understand when people retaliate instead of complaining about it.
ya know if I pull into a parking lot and a car is taking 2 spots and isn't in the absolute farthest parking space away from the entrance I will shoehorn my truck with in inches of the drivers door.
if you need that much space either park out back or don't go.
I like to park way in the back because people love overreacting to a minor inconvenience like having to take 2 extra steps on their way to eat cheeseburgers

They really need to get a life don't they. LOL
The only person who has any right to say anything about parking habits is the owner of the parking lot.

That'd be me.
I love to get my pickup so muddy you can't tell what color it is and then park it in the back with the pavement princesses.
It'll help if you try to think of it as free therapy for your ****/retentive behavior.

Sometimes theres a big difference between common courtesy, parking etiquette (as someone else put it) and a minor inconvenience.
In most parking lots there are lines painted down to show where a person can park. Now obviously if your driving an actual big truck (like a semi, or dans 550) then yes you need to take up some extra space, but the "gentlemen" of parking will park out near the back with their rigs. (which the TS never did state if he went to the back of the lot to take up two spaces or not)
Parking closer to the store or wherever, and taking up two spots, to me, is a ***** thing to do. Those are usually the guys that dont hold a door for someone else walking through, stuff like that.

Dont ya just love freedoms! just as the thread starter has the freedom to park how he wants, people have the right to tell him what they think about him choosing to not follow the lines on the ground (obviously put there for a reason!)
Poor manners when it comes down to it, has nothing to do with "getting a life", IMO .
First of all I drive a very large truck ( 2001 Ford F-350 Crew cab Long Bed), When I am able to, I generally take up 2 spots side by side, because as fate would have it the one time i didn't, some stupid person who doesn't give a about their car opened their door and dented mine... and it's not possible to pull the Dent out cause it's in a body line, so i would have to have the door repainted. My Truck is a 2001 and it is absolutely cherry, except for the one dent, and i intend to keep it that way. So im at In-n-out Burger Today... I park and take up my two spots side by side as usual, as im walking back to my truck to leave this lady in a minivan rolls down her window and rudely says " Next time only take up one spot...OK?" I immediately snapped to attention and gave her A military salute and said "ma'am, Yes Ma'am." If I didnt have that stupid Fire Helmet sticker in my back window with the city for which i work on it... she would have gotton a one fingered salute instead. And im so sure she would be the person to leave a huge dent in your door and just walk away too... sometimes life really frustrated me LOL
Scott,
While I can see that you want to 'preserve' your truck and keep it as nice as possible, I can see the lady's point.
Look at it this way. . . .
I have a disabled parking placard. (I have a bad back, and arthritis in my lower back and knees.)
I parked my truck in a 'handicapped space', and some (ahem) sphincter muscle (cough, cough) parked in the 'access way' (between two 'handicap spaces'), right against my truck.
(Picture a 'ricer' with a BIG rear spoiler pulled right against my truck!)
To get into the truck, I had to reach in, start the truck and lower the window.
I then shutdown the truck, and put it into neutral, and pushed the truck out of the space.
The way I see it - YOU were 'wrong' in this instance, and if you had given that lady the (I quote) "one fingered salute", I'm sure that she would have been gracious and said, "Not with you, junior. But, thanks."
Ultimate bottom line, here.
"Common decency or respect".
While you want to keep your truck nice, other people would like to have access to a parking space, too.
Sorry. I 'side' with the lady on this one.
Park a little farther away from the business establishment and give others the opportunity to park, too.
another fte er thats parking out in the boonies. It cracks me up to watch the vultures circle and wait for a premium space as I park in back and walk by them just laughing as they are still waiting for the spot to open. Fools should learn how to walk, maybe then it will burn off them cheeseburger thighs they get from all those double doubles
FedEx & UPS Drivers are told to park taking up 4 spaces!
I've driven my semi into some parking lots and was told 1 time to leave or they'd call LEO's and have me towed! I used to just laugh at them by SMILEING and then show them the B.O.L. to the store!
1 time out on Long Island,N.Y. There's a truckstop(Yea, There is a T/S there!) there that the guard will stay on your back until you move your truck to the parking lot and force you to pay $5 parking fee! He got on my back to move,,,, Next thing he see's are 4 U.S.Marshalls telling him GET LOST! God I miss hauling Government loads!
And if I could get away with it I'd key the sucker.
If someone is taking up two spots and it isn't effecting you stay the hell away from their vehicle. You have no right to vandalize someones property. In my book your just as guilty as someone who does take up 2 spots. I take up 2 spots plenty of times, BUT I park in the boonies with no cars within 30 yards of me so its not like I'm effecting someone. Be mature about the matter.
I guess the right of having a nice vehicle supersedes the right of someone getting a convenient parking spot. The smart people park farther out as I have read in these posts. Funny how someone will start a thread with a rant and get spanked. and not post in the thread again.
I will admit that when the Homedepot opened in Prescott I would use 2 spaces,
but than so did everyone else with a truck! the brain child that laid out the parking lot in a home improvement store decided you could get more parking spaces if the were 6 feet wide, my truck just didn't fit in them!
