2002 F250 7.3 OIL COOLER REPAIR
Hey,
I just uploaded pics in an album in my profile of the oil cooler repair I made just recently with some input from fellow FTE members.
I would like to add that the two end housings can be pulled onto the green and black O-rings by simply using a standard pipe clamp to pull each end onto the center tube section - you can do one end at a time or both ends at the same time. It worked very well for me - did not have to have a shop press them together nor did I have to stand on top of them as one member showed in a pic.
All in all, it is a straight forward repair if you remove the goodies shown on the first pic.
I chose to thoroughly clean my cooler section as well as the two end housings both inside and outside. There is a bunch of muck on the inside where the O-rings seat and also around the block heater housing.
I think the guys up in the cold areas where there's a lot of salt and chemicals during the winter would certainly benefit by painting the center sections with that POR 15 paint or some other two part etching type paint.
I also replaced a leaking power steering pump which was an easy fix.
Again, thanks for a very informative truck site guys.
