Lunati 61601?

Hey Guys,
I have a 71 Lincoln with 73 heads in my 86 f20 super cab. Ports have been cleaned up. I use it to haul a big, heavy old camper and utility trailer around. Also some fire wood hauling. The motor was built with a comp cam 275 DEH cam and KB flat tops. It wiped a lobe off. I ran the oil pump, used 30wt oil with ZDDP plus added and made sure it fired off right away and did not allow to idle for 20 minutes. Still killed #7 exh lobe. I changed that cam to a Summit 3501. This cam settled in well but does not seem to be a good match for my truck and usage. The performance is muddy until 2000 rpm where it starts to pull well. It also has a ping at light throttle (going up a hill) at around 1800 -2000 rpm. I am thinking a Lunati 61601 would be a better choice. Any one try this cam out? I think the valve springs I have should be fine but am a little worried about the piston to valve clearance on the intake. The Lunati is .535 on the intake which is a little more than the comp 275deh or Summit 3501. Will I have clearance issues with my flat tops? Anyway, any thoughts? Thanks.

What rockers do you have ? If they are stock pedestal, check for any binding at full lift. Lifter preload should be .020 - .060. Check retainer to guide clearance, intakes may need cut down. Don't forget to allow for the valve stem seals clearance, you don't want to crush it. You might have to go with the hard plastic old small block Chevy seals, they are thinner. There is no way to know how much piston to valve clearance you will have. You have to check it your self when the cam is put in to be 100% sure..
