I'll add that I'm running 15W-40 and it's colder here than it ever has been in years. This morning for the first time ever owning this truck it romped twice (I don't plug in) and then smoothed out. Tomorrow I'm dumping the dino oil early and going back to the Rotella-T syth. Haven't decided if I'm going to change the filter or not though, hasn't been on that long.
wouldnt it be better to change the filter since your changing oil types?
i really think thats over blown,so you tellin me i have to change my oil to a diffferent grade in order to start in cold weather?
When you live in the frigid North where its common for temperatures to reach -30, synthetic oil makes all the difference in the world, even with properly working GPs and GPR.
OP check out that relay before messing with your glowplugs.
As far as the block heater goes, its common for them to fray and break right at the plug-end or just before it. Follow the cord and look for stress signs and fractures in the wire coating. I had to put a new end on mine the first winter I owned it.
