Some do, most don't. I think if ford thought it was necessary they would of made it easy. My thought is next oil change I might try it as I have heard the bottom of the reservoir can get very sludgy. No actual proof on my part, just from reading threads over the years. Anyway, I guess it would be hard to get it all out anyway.
I just did it tonight. First time I have done it. The oil wasn't any different than the oil out of the motor. So I may not do it again. I also purposely left it low to see how quickly the engine fills it back up. I ran it for about 2 minutes and it was full again. So I know the engine oil cycles through it fairly quickly. Depends on how annal you are I guess.

So your are saying you did not fill it up and it started right up?
Well I'v read up and seen visual aids that there is a poppet type valve that allows the engin oil to run directly to the reservoir quicky for the cold startups, but it is un filtered and when the pressure on both sides equalize the valve closes and only allows filered oil into the rservoir. So I would fill it back up after daining it. So how much time did it take to get that reservoir opend up?
