Well my truck started giving me problems. It all started off when my truck sat for two weeks while i was in kansas. Got to the shop and fired it up and let it sit till it was warmed up then drove home. Got up next morning and fired it up went back inside. Came out and noticed oil under engine not much at all just a little drip. Thought nothing about it and drove to the shop noticed blue smoke when i took off. Got to shop and checked oil it was still full. Next morning had to rush to town and cranked it up and took off. It blew blue smoke for about 4 miles. I mean enough to cover the whole road. So that afternoon checked all fluids plus ficm everything was fine. Never had a bit of problems with it before. By the way truck is an 06 with 147000 miles. Just wanting to know what to check or just bite the bullet and order an 2011. Thanks again.
Have you ever had the turbo out to clean or replace? Mine smokes a little blue smoke at start up then it clears up. I am running some HSS with this oil change and about the same time I did a CCV re-route on top of this I am running the two stroke oil in the tank. I wonder about my Turbo seal being faulty, just not sure as I am not using oil. Have you ever cleaned your EGR valve. Just some things to consider.
Well i have not cleaned my egr valve in about 10000 miles. And i have done the italian tune up with a double dose of power service. The truck only smokes on cold start up. Plus just so you know none of my trucks get traded they become work trucks when i get done with them.
Well its about 20 degrees when it smokes real bad. Both batteries were replaced about two months ago with 1100 cca ones. I always cycle my glow plugs at least three times before cranking. Truck will fire right up and not smoke until the cold idle kicks in. The smoke will then come out in different bursts then stop until i take off. My old 7.3 did the same thing and never had any problems. I was just wondering if i should worry about this one.
Thanks gearloose this morning i cranked it up and it shook and at first didnt smoke then started blowing a little blue smoke. Let it warm up and took off and it blew blue smoke for about a mile then quit. The truck has been losing fuel mileage for about three months now. Gone from 17 to 14. But my ficm checked out fine so i may have an injector on the way out.
Well just got off the phone with my little brother and found out while i was in kansas he drove my truck. I have been running two stroke and power service together and he messed up and put atf fluid in there while i was gone. Do you think the little ***** messed up an injector. I have heard of people running it before but that it dont mix well with diesel. After i chewed him out i think he will not be driving my truck anytime soon.
What oil are you using? try a 0w40 synthetic, changing oil and fuel filters, check air filter. If you do have a sticking injector, the synthetic may help un stick it. Lets face it if its cold, starting it intermitantly like you do is hard on it. If it sits a lot, you need to consider some at least the oil used, a good sythetic, frequent changes, and a good fuel treatment every tank sounds like it is order for your type of use.
I know several people that run ATF with no harm. It should go away after time. If it doesn't then you MIGHT suspect a turbo seal, but that would probably smoke ALL the time and be running oil out the tail pipe. If you don't have a CCV delete it's possibly oil accumulation in the intake system that burns off after time. Mine does it and I have 147K miles on the clock, but with probably more abuse than yours.
