truck died and wont start back up
driving home from my hunting trip my truck started sumbeling and loosing power till it died. i tried to restart it but wouldnt work til i let it sit for about 10 min. continued trying to drive home but then it did it again. once more 10 min later it started back up and died again just a few miles down the road. now it is completly dead. turns over just fine but nothing happens. its a 2003 6.0 and is stock. i just replaced the icp sensor and have a leaky egr cooler. i just ordered the egr delete kit yesterday. im not real familiar with deisels but it kinda seems like a head gasket. my wife said when it started back up there was a lot of white smoke. any help would be apreciated

Is it getting fuel? Remove cap on secondary FF housing and see if theres fuel in it. If no, possibly HPOP. How long since you changed FF's? Maybe fuel gelled? Whats the temp? Are you using anti-gel if it's cold? Theres a thread in the tech folder near the top from Bismic about diagnosing a no-start condition. Keep us posted.

the truck is a 2003 f250 with the 6.0 L it has 94000 miles on it and is completly stock. the temp outside is around 16 degrees and i do use a anti gelling adative. i have never replaced the ff was actualy planning on doing it next week. the egr as far as i know is leaking onto the engine and not into it. i will check out the tech folder and thanks for the help. and just out of curiosity what is the hpo

derrek...here are a couple of article from Diesel Tech Society...I'm personally aware of the symptoms, but not sure how to diagnose...took it to the dealer and it was replaced under warranty.

there's a fuel delivery problem obviously.. check to see if the pump runs at all(it's under the drivers seat on the frame rail)..turn the key on, without starting the engine, and the pump will run for about 20 secs before the computer commands it off.. also, fuel filters could be dirty and the fuel is too thick to pass through...the fact that it was running and died doesn't lend itself to a fuel quality problem though..
