Just another point to throw in, (correct me if I'm wrong...) the early 99's have a different turbo that is the same as the "wicked wheel" so you may already have that.

That is correct, the early 99's have the "wicked wheel" from the factory, smaller turbo, but they spool up faster.
Ehsan, I got my chip back from Jody with the early 99 codes, and WOW!!! I also thought mine ran great before, just wait till you get it back....Its gonna run even better. Jody got it back to me in just a few days.
Get it in the mail if you haven't already.
YA YA! Although I think I may need to pull mine and rebuild it. Making a wierd noise when letting off the skinny pedal. At least it seems wierd to me.
I have Just noticed a weird noise when I let off the accelerator pedal also. Kind of like a referee's whistle or maybe a rattle. Is that the noise you hear?
Kind of. I almost want to check the turbo as it sounds like it is a little loose as pressure is released.
I got this from the 7.3L Turbocharger Guide:
NOTE:
The exhaust backpressure device during its normal function will change the sound of the engine,
in cold ambient conditions. Some vehicle operators may not understand the function of the device. Refer to
cold weather operation in the Owner's Guide Supplement to the Owner's Manual. Refer to SSM 16697.
