Sorry to hear of your troubles Draginlow. This is just a thought, for what it's worth. I have read posts by others here in the past regarding a leaking windshield gasket causing corrosion in the fuse block circuitry. Perhaps some severe corrosion there in a bad spot could cause a high resistance current leakage path that might intermittently activate certain systems or relays even though the key is off.

Angry similar problems

hi all, i recently started experiencing similar problems with my 99 f350 sd...
it started out with the airbag light and the control module beeping. then a series of clicking in the dash area. i noticed that my aftermarket radio wouldn't turn off and neither would the power to the windows and heater blower motor. this lasted for about 2 hrs then seemed to correct itself. all was good except for the window power not wanting to shut off, even with key removed and door open. Sunday after xmas i came out to find a stone cold dead battery, i replaced it as it was at least 3 yrs old and i didn't want to trust it anymore. all was good till i put in the new battery and found out the blower motor and interior light was freaking out, coming on and off by themselves. I've resolved myself to just make sure all was off when i shut the truck down for the night, and for a week all was good last Sunday my service engine soon light came on and the truck started shifting super hard, my buddy read the code and it was speed control sensor, no problem, $30 from ford and 15 min. later i was back in business. now comes today. i drove to work and while driving the airbag light came on again, and stayed on for 70 miles. i had someone read code and it was somthing like low voltage to control unit. i had 13.7 volts in the system so i couldn't understand why the code??? we reset the light and cleared the codes and after 30 min of driving it was back on again. i stopped and had codes read and there were no codes stored but light was still on. now comes the fun part. there is a relay that controls the blower motor, dome light and radio power and it is freaking out. i hear it coming from under the dash somewhere behind the radio/ heater control panel but i cant seem to find it. am i going to have to tear out most of the dash to get to this relay?? I've also replaced the ignition switch already and it didn't help. there are no obvious wire damage and i have gone through and wiggled and disconnected ,reconnected all the harness plugs i can get to. this is driving me crazy and my new york inspection is due next month. i can find no help with the manuals i have and I've picked the brains of all i know about this. can anyone help with what seems to be a common problem with these trucks??? my thanks to all.

same thing here too

I was having the same problem too but intermitent but now the blower motor has stopped working had the dash all out traced wires checked fuses replaced relays and checked wires to make sure they were not burned thru or hada bad spot

what i have found the fuse in the cab fuse box for the blower motor was good but the wire from the fuse runs to the fuse box under the hood to a relay for the blower motor the non battery side of the interior fuse i checked the wire to the relay and had no complete circuit the wire had a bad spot in it or bad connection or there is another fuse relay or fusable link in it that i have not found everything else seems to be ok

tempoary fix for now the spot the relay plugs in has 4 female spade terminals the fuse in the cab trips the circuit/switch the aturns on the blower but there is power ther to go to the blower when the relay is not tripped ran a jumper wire from hot side o blower moto with a fuse on it but needs a switch on it as well so i can turn it off completely

yes i know its not the right fix but its 18 out

the fix hmm good question think i'm gonna have to run a new wire from the fuse in the cab to the relay under the hood unless i can find another relay or fusable link in there some where i can only imagine the fun it'll be to run the new wire be easier then to find the bad spot in the wire but what can you do

I'm interested in anyone elses find/fixes on this my truck isa 2000 f250 superduty ps

Been there, water intrusion at the GEM module is your problem. Leaking windshield seal at drivers lower corner is the source. Pull the fuse box out, the GEM rides piggyback on the top of it, you will see water marks in the dust. Blow it out, attach a shop vac to any opening you can find and let it run for a while, until you feel it should be dry. Or replace the module, programming will be required.

Next, find that water leak and fix it, otherwise you will be in the same boat the next time moisture accumulates.

I have good news, the relays you need are behind the radio, sort of. Remove the radio look deep and you will see a black rectangular plastic box , only as wide as a relay and maybe 3 relays long, the top is secured with tape.No idea why they put it there, but the first I had to find was a booger bear. It will be attached to the main harness that runs across the dash.

I found the relays yes they are all the way in the back behind the radio up by the ductwork for the defrosters but did you see the other set of relays? they are just to the lfet of the steering column in behind the dash

i did however get a wring diagram of the fuse panels and wiring for the heat ac system and i still believe my proble is between the fuse under the dash i have power to it at both sides but according to my diagram the side that does not come off the battery goes to the fuse box under the hood to the relay that is for the blower motor i think i got a bad wire or connection in there someplace gonna check it again tuesday my diagram just shows that it goes from the fuse to the relay hope this fixes it it's too dang cold out to not have heat
