Reason: add info
That's about all you can tell from the VIN. If you want to know what options and equipment came with your truck from the factory you will have to either contact Ford customer service (free) or Marti Auto to research your VIN. Marti Auto Works - Concourse Quality, Hobbyist Price
H2= 3.50 limited slip,3.6M capacity, Ford 9". For "A" the parts book isn't clear. This is the front axle, the book shows for '74 this is a DSO special order 3.8M capacity axle then the book jumps to 78-up saying "A" signifies adjustable steering column with power steering but doesn't show "A" for '77
Bill (aka "The Big Dummy") should be along shortly....

Until then, Can I try?
If it's wrong, I'm sorry, I tried...
F14 = F-150 4 Wheel Drive
S = V8 - 400ci - 2-Barrel Carburetor
And...
That's all I can decode my friend, The only other thing the VIN gives you that I haven't is the Transmission and the consecutive build number.
Post up the Warranty Plate Info, Located on the driver side door below the latch thingy.

I didn't catch the 1978 in your VIN decode. I was thinking you had a '77. The "A" signifies adjustable steering column with power steering.
Also, "S" is a 400 2bbl., I don't believe Ford ever produced a 4bbl. version.
"N" signifies the Norfolk, Va. assy. plant.
If you post the entire door tag we can probably decode the whole thing for you.
