The Ford service manager called me this evening.

She doesn't yet know what has been accomplished and thereby what needs to get done yet.

But, she assured me that my van has become a priority for their mechanic.

And, that I might have it back in February.

I'm sorry that's way too long in my book no matter what they had to do....

Well, actually she said in February, but eh its the end of the month already so I don't think they'd have it ready by this Saturday anyways.

In talking with them I'm choosing my words carefully in the hopes that they eat the entire rental bill including my 'elected' rental insurance.

That might be a pipe dream, they don't really care about what you are paying to get back and forth to work.

My thought is the length of time they are taking to do the job....

They have waved some of the rental charges before, that was when I was having my transmission rebuilt under warranty and performance parts installed.

That time I only had to pay for the rental for the time they were really working on it.

I just think your being dragged out a little, only because they have other jobs that pay by the book and they can usually beat the times in the book. Your job isn't a book job so it straight hours.....

Well Steve, some of the work I would think fall under book jobs, such as R&R the differential front & rear, R&R the rear axle shafts (which has to be done anyways to do the differential).

As I see it the only straight hour work is the body work to clear the over sized wheels.

I'm not having them do any plumbing, nor wiring, for the lockers as I don't have a compressor yet.

Without making them upset you need to sit on them a little more, like you did to make your job a priority to get it out of their shop to make room for more jobs.

My mechanic only sits on jobs if the customer indicates he can't pay for the job when complete, not that I'm saying thats your case, but if it's there thats money in there pocket when it's done.
