andy, i have been helping in the engineering and fabrication of a nice pine derby car. i can imagine yours is going to be winning the show and shine award

if you are interested, i have some carbon fiber cloth.

we were looking at the rules for ways to bend them. they have a pretty strict rulebook going though, there isnt much room for creativity other than the shape of the body.

whats everybody up to tonight?

Aaron I got a set of machined wheels and grooved axles from a place on line.
Our race is the 31.
Tonight they had a place called hope with birds of prey.
They had 2 owls and 2 hawks

i bet the kids loved that! birds of prey are really cool, even for kids my age.

are you going to get pinched at tech for grooved axles? the rules we were reading said you could only polish them. i heard the trick to speed is getting the wheels straight while its rolling, i guess the slack in the wheels lets them toe out while the car is rolling causing friction.

i think they need to have an "open" class, and let the kids really get their brains working. i never was in boyscouts but i would have been annoyed with the amount of rules and regs they have on the cars.

I'm back, though I don't think anyone realized I was gone for awhile tonight.

We had to run the units tonight and they were cranky as usual.

And since we got dispatched to run them, there goes the OT Saturday that we would have run them on otherwise, just to exercise the units for the month.
