460 EFI head question

460 EFI head question

So I know that there are two different EFI heads that the fords used on the 460s, and I know that the later one flowed better... but how much better are they and what year did they start using these heads? Reason being I found a good deal on a fresh rebuilt 88 460 and was wondering if I really need to swap the heads on it. It has a vortech supercharger already on it and I plan on doing a MAF conversion and a more agressive cam so should I swap the heads?

88-93 E7TE. 94-97 F3TE.....Can't tell exactly how much better the F3TE is, but in class A motorhome service, they picked up 15HP. Also run cleaner allowing Ford to eliminate the catalytic converter.

The valves are bigger in the F3TE heads. The runners may be a better too, though not sure on that.

I know on a 1989 460, the exhaust ports are slightly larger than the ports on my 1990 460 heads. I need to see what castings mine are.

I think pressurized induction would make the slightly lower flow of the E7TEs irrelevant. I'd run the 88 heads unless you find a set of F3TEs for not much more than free.
