I just yoinked the rear slider from my '84 cab before it went to the crusher - Now I want to install it in my brother's '95 that has a fixed rear window.
Does anyone know first hand if the fixed rear window seal in the '95 can be used with with the '84 slider? I'm getting conflicting information from the big-name parts catalogs - LMC shows a different part # for the fixed vs. slider seals, while BroncoGraveyard has one part # that works with fixed or sliding windows.
I haven't ran OE Ford part #s yet - just wanted to see if anyone has experience with this. I would LOVE to not have to buy a new seal.
I don't know about the slider in an '84 but my '87 with a factory 4 panel sliding window has a much wider channel in the gasket for the window.
Most aftermarket sliders have a narrow flange on the outside so they will fit in place of a fixed glass.
Checked it earlier this week - the glass is stamped "Carlite" and the frame/seal combo looks thicker than the fixed window/seal on the '95. So I'm 99% sure it's an original Ford slider, and thus needs a slider-specific seal.
factory window has to use the factory rubber for the slider. aftermarket window has to use the plate window gasket. most aftermarket windows were used to replace the plate glass, that's why they were designed to use the smaller gasket, to keep the cost down.
