Has it been run in the past 15 years for any extended period of time? Most engines don't like to just sit around... especially the seals. Check out the frame and suspension points and make sure everything is still solid. Can it be driven? I've always been leery of the "needs carb work" and "just needs a fuel pump" crowd. I want to hear and see an engine warm up to temp and make sure the oil pressure is good cold as well as hot. Check all the fluids. Crawl under the thing and look for any evidence of leaks. I also like to be able to test drive anything I spend my hard earned money on. Don't get overly concerned about the paint job, you know the saying about putting makeup on a pig. Make sure you look everything over twice and in the daylight. Would I pay it? No. $2500 is a lot of money... I have that much in three running and driving trucks. However, I am a cheap *****... ask any of my friends and they'll agree. In the end it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it... just make sure you know what you're getting in the beginning. I've seen a lot of people bury themselves over bad purchases.

arent we all? why else would we try to look stuff up on the internet and do it ourselves instead of paying a mechanic who can do it in half the time lol
back on track: i seriously doubt the truck is worth 2500, 1500? mebe 1000? mostlikely. anything less than that is a good deal. as a rule of thumb i've discovered ANYTHING that runs and drives is worth at least a thousand, most everything that dosent ISNT.
there's my 2 cents
EDIT: another good source for what its worth is the Craigslist.com for your area, look up what a 80-86 F series truck is going for in your neck of the woods.

Seriously, if I was to make an offer on it, I would probably offer no more then $1000... and really, I would lowball the hell of it. I've done this my whole truck buying career. I'm honest with people about what they have and what I'd pay for it. Sometimes you get a good deal... sometimes you walk away with nothing. (I've seen trucks I've made offers on at the junkyard... it's funny how some people will turn down $400 from an individual but will take $200 from the junkyard) Just remember, there's always something better 'round the corner.

Good advice guys thanks. I'm going to take a look at it today. I was told the first owner did while driving it at a stop sign a long time ago and it was put up in a barn for years for bad memories or something. Then the son sold to this guy. He put allot of money in it and in the pic's it looks nice. I was also told that the engine was already rebuilt. The fule system was trashed from them trying to start it with a tank fuel of old fuel and junk so that why I think the carb will need to be replaced because trhe idle is bad. The truck runs and drives new tires brakes paint. It needs int bed wood I know so far. I need a good running truck. I can do all the work myself and have a buget to work with.

I looked at the truck today. It's was way rusty in the cab. The paint job was bad. They painted all over rusty spots. The int was shot and it ran bad. I cannot see anywhere 2500 for it at all. The guy asked me to make him a offer and I did not. I was afraid of the rust I couldn't see. I really wanted to but it.
