So were was your first carry conceal?mine was a funeral home lol!so how do you feell about ccw?i was getting a cup of coffee at QT today next to a police man that had his weapon in the open!but i was there next to him with my 9mm and he didnt even know!So i quess you really just dont know who is carrying do we!
Never knowing who might be armed is something that should make punk criminals think twice, the LEO has nothing to fear from a law abiding CCW holder...........Its a proven fact, more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens = a few dead perps + less crime........Heavy gun control = defenseless victims + armed criminals and more crime.
Most people go for wal-mart. I (and my wife!) open carry in there all the time, they don't care. Around here, people don't even give you a second look unless you're carrying a nice gun.
My first carry gun was a model 29 S&W 357 snubnose. Just 6 shots but bad assed ones. I kept hollowpoint bullets in it. I hate I traded it. My wife liked it for her CCW. She shot it well too. She could hit the 10 ring at 20 yrs with it.

29??? is .44
Did you maybe have an N-frame 27 or 28 in .357?
I had a 629 snubbie for a while back in the mid '80's, never carried it.
Man, that was LOUD! I could clear people out of the indoor range.
Kind of off subject , but talk about loud , my son has a AR 15 with a 7in barrel , we shot some 5.56 at the indoor range with it over the weekend , it scares people , loud & about a 4ft flame out of the barrel . First carry was at the local grocery store , 1911 kimber ultra carry....Lew
my first CCW was a Smith&Wesson 4506. still have it.
the best in store experience was about 30 years ago, we stopped at a 7-11 for coffee after leaving the range. i had the 45 in the in pants holster in the small of my back where i usually carried it, and the 44 mag in a shoulder rig.
some city slicker from new jork saw the tip of the 44 barrel sticking out from under my jacket, and went outside and called the cops on the pay phone that there was a pack of armed robbers getting ready to rob the 7-11. 6 cop cars flying into the parking lot, locking down the store, with the 4 of us waiting for them to show up after hearing the call come through on the police radio in the car i was driving. store owner looking at us like we are crazy, and the city slicker pointing at me and the 3 other cops i was with screaming THEM, IT'S THEM!!
apparently, they never saw cops out of uniform before.
Your right it was a 27. I can't remember that far back well. Your right about one thing it was loud. It wasn't bad with 38s but the hot 357 would clear the range out. I would buy another though. I liked it for its reliability. It fired when you pulled the trigger. No jams or misfires. Plus it would stop your target.

I do carry a Ruger SP101 (the original 2 1/4"one w/ the short cylinder that would only chamber Hydra-Shok's)
Glad I handload, with most commercial .357 loads half the powder burns after the bullet clears the muzzle.
The flash is *distracting* to others on the firing line.
