My 96 5.8L runs very cool and I don't have any issues with it. I did want to know about the effect of running the engine with the fan taken off. Would there be any dire consequences? Thanks.

Other than overheating at slower speeds and city driving (no air flow), I can't think of any.

More fan air improves A/C. I like my severe duty fan clutch that reminds me of a garbage truck at times when it is hot.

Cooler is always better than hotter and the fan doesn't kill that much HP in the first place.

I'm not sure what angle your question is aimed at. If you are thinking of running without any fan, I think thats crazy. Even if you start it and drive right away most times and live in a cold climate, If you forget one time and let it run to long at a stop, you'll regret it. What would be the purpose? If your trying to save HP or stress on your pump shaft, get an electric. I have one and like it because it makes room to work on the engine and the A/C works better at a stop. But, I have to tell you, I cant tell the differnce in performance.

OK, I get it. I was thinking of trying to save mileage, but since you guys have read me the riot act, I see the error in my ways.

Also, if you're trying to reduce the strain in the engine, you could get a high performance nylon fan. It's a lot lighter, and designed not to drag as much air (wich isn't that good... but no pain no gain they say).
