Not a political discussion, I will leave that to the Club House. Just an informal survey.

Just wondering if anyone is taking advantage of it by actually caulking your house (vs. buying an EPA rated fireplace). I bought spray foam myself.

If so, how many did you buy and at what store?

I had someone do mine for me - paid a company about $2500 to seal a bunch of air leaks and blow about 2' of cellulose into my attic.

Got a $2000 rebate check from the gas company and should be able to take $400 of the remaining $500 as a tax credit. Not a bad deal....

I thought the program was going to require that you hire a contractor to do the energy audit and perform the upgrades.

I'm sure it will.

I did mine under an energy saving rebate offered by the local gas monopoly. The company that I used came in, pressure tested the house, found the leaks and sealed as many as they could. They even did the paperwork to get the gas company to rebate the two grand. The tax credit I will be taking is under the existing energy conservation credit.

The cash for caulkers is another boondoggle in the making in my opinion.

I bought a wood stove and installed some insulation under the same deal.

I'm on the installing end. I have been replacing doors & windows under the program. I figured I better get whatever change I could under Obamas reign.
