Alright so i have a 05 FX4 Screw with the "premium sound" it has the 6 disc mp3 cd player with the stock woofer.
So i was looking at it the other day and realized i had no idea what the AUX button dose on this one. We have had the truck sense new, but i had never wondered what it did till now.
We had a 08 f250 and it had a AUX button but it also had a aux port for something to be plugged into.
If my 05 has a plug in where is it, and if not what the hell dose the button do. cause when i hit it it says there is no aux music. DUH i cant find where to plug it in at. I would have checked the owners manual but it has been lost for some time now.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that AUX button is for anything you add to your sound system, but whatever you add must be wired/harnessed from the backside of the radio....Just going by memory from posts I've seen on this forum.
That is correct, The adapter he is referring to I beleive is called a PIE adapter. It hooks into the rear of the radio, and enables one to hook up an I-Pod,or other device such as an MP3 player.
I did some research on this adapter, and since I dont use my 07 as a daily driver,it wasnt worth the cost....I think they can be had for between 100&200 bucks depending on the manufacturer.
You will likely get more specific info if you post on the audio portion of this forum.
Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
Alright, i was hoping it wasn't in the back. but i suppose i will get a cord for it once i change out the little gear that switches the cd's now that it turned my 6 disc into a 4 disc. But a nice new alpine touch screen dosnt sound like a bad idea either lol.
There was a thread on one of the Truck forums recently of someone putting all their tunes onto a hard drive, putting that into the glovebox and how they worked the wire to the back of the radio. I also wonder if the wire and jack that go to the top of the dash on the newer units is compatible with the 04-05 ones. Just a thought.
This may well work, but be very careful about getting one from a manufacturer that youve never heard of.If it doesent work in your situation, you may have an issue with returning it.
I did some research earlier on concerning one of these units(as previously mentioned) and If memory serves, the one for my 07 was around 150.00,and came from a company that evidently has been in business for quite some time.
Dont get me wrong...Im all for saving money, but that savings could result in you paying the difference in headaches...
yeah i tried the isimple that came with the cable that splits the stock cable that plugs into the back of the radio, i couldnt get it to work every time i would hit auxillary it would say no aux input or something, so i return it and got the isimple that you leave the stock cable hooked in the back of the radio alone and you disconnect the antenna cable and split that, and it split into a controller that has a on and off switch either ipod or radio and you have to have it on 87.9 works pretty slick
