Ford Motorsport Headers for 5.0/5.8

I previously had a 94 F150 with a 5.0. I purchased the Ford Motorsport Stainless steel headers the were a direct replacement for the exhaust man. I just purchased a 95 F150 with a 5.8. Can anyone tell me if the headers from my 5.0 will fit on the 5.8 as a direct replacement and bolt up to the factory exhaust? Thanks.

No the 5.8 is wider that the 5.0 , so you need headers for the 5.8 to bolt to the factory exhaust . Long tube headers help more than short headers on performance...Lew

You have to watch it with the long tubes the O2 needs to be as far forward as posible. I made the mistake using headmans and putting the o2 in a convenient location but it scewed the O2 pulse delay and it would not get up to temp the truck ran like crap giving bad signals to the computer.

thanks guys for the input but I intend on using the short headers so I don't have to deal with additional exhaust issues. The short headers worked out extremely well on my 5.0. I was told that the heads on a 5.0 and a 5.8 are the same and that my headers would work. However I also found that Ford Motorsport has two different part numbers for the 5.0 and 5.8 headers but the specs look the same. I am just hoping someone on here might have experience with them to know for sure. Thanks again.

I believe they will bolt up just fine, but they won't have the port for the EGR tube on the passenger side, that's likely the reason the 5.8 version has a different part number.

^2 I just bought the 5.8 ones for my swap engine and Conanski is spot on once again. I've never had the ones for a 5.0 so I can't compare.

I know they will bolt to the heads no problem , but i didnt think they would hook up to the stock y pipe , so the 5.0 & 5.8 headers are the same except the egr tube ?? ...Lew

Your right lew. The 5.8 Y pipe is a lot bigger than the 5.0 Y pipe.

it would be cheaper to have the y-pipe modified than it would be to buy a new set of headers imo.

Maybe but your choking your exhaust a lot more than the factory manifolds do. It would be better to just E-bay the 5.0 manifolds and buy some 5.8 ones.

The drivers side down pipe of a 5.8 is 1/2" bigger than that of a 5.0

1 5/8" primaries and a 2.5" collector is not going to choke it down, a stock windsor will not out flow those headers sorry.

I would just put a set of long tubes on it & build a custom exhaust , the gain will be worth it ... Lew

2-1/2" Collectors? If that's inside diameter then the stock 5.0 Y pipe would slide right up into it. I think your information may be off. Not trying to be a dink but if these shorties ARE direct bolt on then the 5.0 manifolds would have to mate to a 2" Y pipe.
