Alarm System

I am looking to put an alarm system on my 08 F450. I would like the remote start option. Does anybody have any suggestions for a good system?

The shop I work for carries AutoPage so that's really the only brand I have much experience with but mine has been serving me well and we don't have alot of people coming back with problems on them.

Had the Viper 5000 put in the truck, didn't go with remote start but all the other features are pretty good. The 2 way lcd remote control has pretty good distance even when in the hotels. The batteries in the remote control for me last 4 months.

4 months on batteries? That's it?? WOW. I guess that LCD really eats 'em up. I've had Viper/Python (DEI products) on various vehicles for over 15 years and never had a problem. They are quality products but the installation is also key to a trouble-free system. Quality parts and a half-ar$e install is no good.

When I'm in the market, I find the product I want. Then I cruise by the shop & see when they are working on similar items, and with the customers permission, we look over the actual install. Some places are very neat, others leave you with a rat's nest of spaghetti wiring. Crimp connections are a no-no if you want my money; has to be soldered & I prefer shrink tubing, but quality electrical taping is acceptable.

Yes, I'm picky.

I might use them more than the average person maybe? I'll drive 1000-1500 miles a week and on any given day push the security button 6 to 10 times to activate it. I thought the same as far as battery life and this is probably why they don't last .
