2wd to 4wd with d60

I start this thread so I won't continue to hijack the other thread. I want to put a d60 from a 95 DRW into My 93 DRW. I have not seen a complete d60 with all the parts to bolt it to the ford frame yet bc the one I got was not complete, the front spring bracket was missing and the locking hubs were missing as well. Now I have good skills for wrenching but I have NO EXPERIENCE on 4x4 and I don't know what am I missing and need to buy besides this two things that were obvious. Does anyone have pictures, drawing or anything I can look at so I will know what I need to buy before I start taking down My front end to find out something isn't right.
The front spring are missing like I said the rear springs bolt directly to the bracket, is this the case with the front bracket or is there a shackle in between? I'm lost and need a little guide from someone willing to help so I can get on the right track to convert this thing to 4wd.

I also have a np205 that I will have to mount and connect to My tranny, and then figure how to connect a shifter to it to make it work. I have time since I plan to finish this by sprint so I can gather parts for now I remove the front end when I have all the parts then dedicate time to the TC and drive shafts.

I'll appreciate any help.

You can buy the OEM shackles new or rip them from a wrecker if you want to save some bucks.

Don't quote me on this next bit, but I *think* the D50 TTB uses the same hubs.

You will have some cutting and re enforcing to install at the front of the frame if you want to go for full OEM setup.

There is also supposed to be a lateral track bar that connects the traction beam to the engine support cross member. You might be able to get away without this, but it makes a big difference in terms of handling.

If you set your spring shackles up so that the shackles are in the rear (opposite from the stock TTB setup which is front shackle, us guys that already have a 4x4 TTB usually have to do a shackle reversal) then your front axle will be a lot more stable and you won't need a track bar.

I can't seem to remember there being a D50 TTB DRW. The D50 and D60 hubs swap but that is in SRW form. Sounds like you need the front swing shackle. But if your using the 2wd frame, I don't think the provisions are there for it. The 4wd frames have a notch below the shackle. Not a big deal to make as long as the holes are there for the shackle mount.

The holes are not there for the shackle mount. Some of them are shared with the radiator support mount, so they are sorta there.. The other big difference is there is a dimple in the 4wd frame where the bolt sits for the shackle. It could be addressed by a spacer inside the frame. This is a moot point if going for a shackle reversal.

Should never even consider a front swing shackle...........
Build based upon a rear swing shackle.

yeah. front swing shackles suck in these trucks. you were sayin, cause I remember, in that thread where prozon wanted to remove his track bar and I think you told him "yeah go ahead but get a shackle reversal kit first"

I always study up on these things for when I have to do my own SAS.

Well if a shackle in the back eliminates the track bar then where do I get one . Would this also eliminate the need to box the frame at the front?
and Me looking for a front bracket?

Thank You. Any pics from someone who have done this.

If you buy a shackle reversal kit it comes with the shackle. All you would need would be the factory bracket from a 250/350

You will be installing a basic shackle reverse kit. This will bolt to the front of the frame with some modification, and then you will bolt up some factory spring hangers inwhich the new shackles will hanf from. This is where the new leafs will bolt to:

Not 100% sure whether or no this is the easiest way to perform your particular task, but it appears that this is the direction in which you are headed.

Ok, finally took some time to get some pictures of the stock mount locations and I had the before and after shots already...
Album pictures here

Stock front mount location.

Stock mount from inside frame.

Outside of the mount I made.

Inside view, its made of 3.5" square tubing.

I used a front hitch as a front crossmember to strengthen the frame, it had some limitations, but as a bonus, its a front hitch! (and it was only $35! )
I just realized, I did this on an 88, a 93 may have a more boxed in frame horn.. so there maybe some differences. More pictures/ descriptions on the album..

Yes I saw that. I think that is look like a clean product is $300 a good price? There are also some options like the 4.5 rear shackle flip is this something I have to add too?

Thank You guys I will post some progress as soon as I get the axle and parts cleaned and ready to go. This kit looks like it will make it work nicely and save Me some time getting brackets I will have to modify anyways. Btw I do have the leaf spring rear bracket the only one missing is the front bracket so with this kit I should be set then.
Also do I need a 3" lift? I want to keep the truck at the same hight if possible, I use it for hauling heavy stuff.
