Horn Button Spring
I need a horn button spring for my '67 F100. It's the large steel spring that goes right under the button and/or ring. Is that part the same on just '67-'72 trucks, or does it go beyond that?
Is it still available from the dealers? I'm in Burbank, 91502, so Galpin Ford is my usual parts place.
Thanks!

Pretty sure doesn't cut it. You are either sure...or not. In this case, it's...or not. The 1961/67 Econoline horn button's do not use this same spring.
The spring used on 1961/67 Econoline horn button's is C1TZ13A807B which also fits 1961/65 F100/250 4WD / 1966 F250 4WD / 1969/74 Econoline.
Could you also post the availability for the spring for the horn ring (CODZ13A807B)? If any of the same places have both, that'll make it easier to order them.
It makes sense that they would be different parts. The ring spring is probably much stiffer than the button spring.
When I bought my F100, everything was missing in the center of the wheel. Fortunately, the little contact button didn't fall out, and the horn works if you electrically short the button to ground.
On ebay, I managed to find an original horn ring in pretty good shape, but it's missing the center emblem and the plastic retainer ring. Then I found a NOS horn button assembly, which has the emblem and retainer. Since I have the parts to go with either the ring or the button, I may just buy both springs to give me the option. I'll probably go with the ring for class, but I may turn out to like the button better.
Thanks again for your help!

When Ford sold the ring, it came assembled with everything (except the spring). The repops come Sally Rand, everything else is required.
Fits: 1961/65 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / 1966 F250 2WD / 1967/70 F100/350 2WD/4WD / 1960/63 Falcon/Comet except 1963 Falcon Sprint.
In the late 1960's, Ford painted the horn ring argent to reduce glare. It cuts down on the glare all right, but looks FUGLY. Underneath the paint, it is NOT chromed.
When Ford did this, they did NOT change the part number, which means: Be careful what you buy...that NOS horn ring could be chrome, or maybe not.

I called Bo at Mustang Service Center and they have a few of the ring springs, so I'm going to stop in there tomorrow. I'd driven by the place but have never checked them out.
The horn ring that I got from ebay is plated, although it's a satin-ish finish. It doesn't look like it's been scrubbed or anything, but it's not bright chrome. It has some pitting but is decent looking overall. It'll be fine for this truck for now. Its cast-in part number is C8TA13A800-F. I realize that's the part number for just the ring, not the ring assembly as was stocked. The ebay seller claimed it was from a '67 or '68 F100.

When you stop by Mustang Service Center, ask Bo if he knows the difference between a bar of soap and a valve seal.

I've been ragging on Bo since he said something to this effect back in 1975.
I asked him about the soap and valve seals....he laughed and shook his head and said I didn't want to know. He told me some stories about your involvement in the big auctions when he acquired much of his inventory. A real nice guy.
