bought this brand new, prieviously owned.'05 150 Supercrew, 5.4, and I don't have the window sticker to denote if I have a "limited slip" and what gear ratio. Is there identification on a door decal and how would it be decoded. Help please.
I started to say thats rather personal, but then again i'm the one asking for assistance...how about 1FTPW14515KD58163. I went on line to check the VIN codes, but I don't recall finding out that information.
I really wouldn't worry about people asking your vin.....they can walk up to your window and write it down it they wanted.....also...its the easiest way to tell ya what your truck has...
Sorry to ask if this is too basic - But what is the difference between limited slip and non-limited slip???
Depending on the make/model of unit - there's a series of gears/clutchs/etc in the differential that once one wheel starts overspinning compared to the other, power is then transferred to the non spinning wheel. Think as if you have one rear wheel on sheer ice and the other on pavement, with an open differential only the one wheel is going to spin. On a LS, once the one wheel overspins so much, through the LS, the 2 axels become closer to being locked together, limiting some spinning on the one wheel and forcing the other wheel to start turning.
Not as easy to explain as I thought it was going to be but I hope it was sufficient.
