Don't know if this would work and possibly one of the electrical engineering gurus could approve or disapprove this idea but.........while your truck is plugged in would it be of a tool to locate overheating areas buy occasionally using a "No Contact" Infra-red temperature indicator to check for hot spots?

I can't power my block heater with a GFI, always trips, on any of my trucks.
Figured it's drawing too much juice.
It's been years since I needed it since I park inside now, but not sure how you guys are able to use GFI's. ???

This is true. A GFI is to protect you and nothing else. I read a few times that a GFI will not work if you are not grounded such as standing on a wood floor. But if you are not grounded you should not get zapped right?

Correct.
But you can still be a conductor.
Remember voltage is just the shock you feel.
The human body cannot even handle 1amp.

Thank you for the explanation and the link does the breaker in the electrical panel work in the same manner or do they sense over currents or shorts.
