was warming up truck with remote start in driveway and it all of a sudden shut off. now it wont start. it turns over and a bunch of dash lights stay on. glow plugs, check engine, check gage, bat. is this that grey cps problem
Did you hear it stall? If so, what did it sound like? What year is your truck? Does the tach move while cranking? Any smoke out the tail pipe while cranking?
i think it sputtered once when it stalled but not 100% sure i was in house. its an 02 no smoke, no tach, wts light wont turn off when in run position, also engine light, battery, check gage light stay on. last week on a cold morning i had to give it a shot of either to start,it was turning over fine though, it was cold but had started fine on colder days.truck has 76000 miles and very clean
The WTS light staying on is saying there's an electrical issue that is not allowing one of the circuits in the PCM to power up. If you listen, you probably won't hear your fuel pump come on with the key like it's supposed to.
The remote start is a possibility, so you can check that out. Also check your fuses and swap your PCM relay for the blower motor relay.
Other spots to check that can cause similar issues are chaffed wires in the main engine wiring harness at the drivers side valve cover. If you look under the intake hose, you'll see a square box with a bolt in the middle of it. Check the wires coming out of the bottom of the box and behind the box to see if they've been rubbing and shorting to ground. You can also check a harness that goes over the drivers front shock. If you leave the key on and wiggle the wiring harnesses, you should be able to hear the circuit energize with the fuel pump coming on.
you are brilliant! i turned key on, wiggled wires in metal loop, heard fuel pump turn on, and truck fired up! thank you so much. if it wasnt for FTE computers would be worthless!
Take care of any chaffed wires like Chris advised and put some extra protection around that bundle of wire, make sure the connector holding nut is tight and try to postion it so that it doesn't rub on the valve cover. I put another piece of wire loom over it and wrapped with electrical tape.
