ok I have a 91 F250 with the 5.0 EFI I replaced the exhaust last year with a single 3" mandrel bent pipe and had a 3" hi-flow cat and 3" flowmaster 40 series now my exhaust manifolds and stock y-pipe are rusted out and I was thinking of going to a set of BBK shorty headers and a Hi-flow Y-pipe but I know the 5.0's like some back preassure so will this affect my bottom end power? anyways thanks in advance.
Nothing wrong with it. Just don't go trying to dump it out the headers or anything and you'll be fine.
haha thanks zxwut I don't think my wife or my neighbors would appreciate me running open headers but yeah I guess I will go ahead and order the headers and y-pipe then thanks for your help
Long tube headers will give you more low end than shortys . You don't want any back pressure , 1 1/2 primary long tubes will give the scavaging you need then go larger from there , so your 3in pipe with the 40s should be good ... Lew

There is nothing wrong with a setup like that.
You can get a Bassani or Magnaflow Y pipe from Summit or Jegs.
The BBK shorties don't fit very well though. I tried to put them on my truck and they did not line up well at all. Actually, they were way off. I also tried Hedmans, but they were defective with pin holes in the welds. So, I still have manifolds. I gave up on headers.
If your set on using shorties, get the Ford Racing SS ones. I bought them for my 5.8 doner engine and they fit perfectly. I haven't tried them for leaks because I haven't put the engine in yet.
