Hey guys, After recently replacing my turn signal wire harness and switch, my truck can now be started in gear (not good). Is it possible, i didn't put things back incorrectly. By the way it is an Automatic Tranny ('69 f250) Any Ideas? Thanks Al
Somehow the alignment got knocked off in the nss. Look at the column below the dash and you should see something that resembles the gear selector. If it didn't get broken there is a set screw on it that will allow adjustment.
I converted from 3spd to auto and never bothered to hook it up. I personally don't consider it a problem starting in gear.

I have that issue on a Blazer I bought. It is not a good thing especially if someone else may drive it. Starting in Drive can catch one off guard.

This has something to do with the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS).
Since the problem did not exist before you replaced the TSS, the following would be the first thing I'd suggest looking at.
The NSS is activated by a spring steel selector lever that resembles this: }---
It snaps onto the shift tube thru a hole in the mast jacket (steering column outer shroud). The tip of this lever fits into the NSS.
This lever can lose tensile strength, which causes it to pop out of the shift tube. Or the tip of it has broken off, which is quite common.
DOTZ7B097B .. NSS Selector Lever / Ford just obsoleted this part / DOTZ7B097B replaced DOTZ7B097A & C5TZ7B097A.
Fits: 1965/77 F100/350.
