Disc brake question

I'm installing new pads and calipers on my 72 F250. I'm having some problems. I had the rotors machined and I brought them back home, greased everything up, and put them on. Then I tightened that bracket piece at the top and bottom bolts. then i tried putting the pads in place but they're really hard to put in. I managed to force them in and i put it all together with the bolts and springs and all, and the rotor will not turn, at least by hand. It's the right pads. But I'm not sure, will they kinda settle into place when the wheels turn? The rotor has a width of .94, is that correct for the stock pads? am I supposed to put some kind of lubricant?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you got the correct disc brake pads?

These pade (D2TZ2001E kit) are the same for dual piston calipers: 1968/74 F250/F350. These pads are obsolete, but I found a set at a dealer in Stanton TX, and 20 more sets in KS, SC, IA & OH.

These pads are new, not relined...which may be the problem if you bought relined pads, as the lining may be too thick.

There are other pads that are not the same: 1973/79 F250 2WD w/single piston calipers / 1975/79: F250 2WD & F350 w/dual piston calipers / 1976/79 F250 4WD & 1979 F350 4WD w/dual piston calipers.

1968/72 F250/350: There is right & left caliper support kit composed of rubber boots and inserts. These mount into the caliper mounting brackets where the long shouldered bolts pass thru.

Are these parts in place? There are two different kits used in 1972, it depends on what the trucks serial number is.

Where the pads fit into the brackets, there is one upper & one lower "brake pad hold down" coil spring per side (4-C8TZ2068B). Are these in place?

Be careful when tightning up the locking nuts used on the caliper mounting bolts. These bolts were notorious for snapping off at the threaded ends. 1972's used different bolts than 1968/71.

Did you compress the pistons back inside of the caliper all the way?
