That depends on what happened to it. A salvage yard may be the cheapest route. A transfer case from a Bronco, F150, F250, or F350 will bolt up, gasser or diesel. You probably have the Borg Warner 1356 case.

I believe they do have parts for them at the parts stores.

If you can afford to have the truck disabled for more than a couple of days, then I would park it where its out of the way and drop the case now. Then tear inside and see what needs work or replacing. Chances are this is the cheapest route unless its something major.

If you cannot have the truck disabled for more than a couple of days, then go to a wrecker and get a replacement to simply swap it out. If it were me, I would tear into the new/used one and inspect or repair as needed before installing it. Takes longer, but the truck is still not without a transfer case for any longer than it takes to swap it.

Something I am wondering however, is if you have a major internal problem or if its only a linkage problem.

For what it is worth, i just did this as some of the fellas can attest to. PLC7.3 has the best diagrams i have received. I found that there are some differences in shift linkages and some have retainer clips and some dont, some have set screws and some dont. Please feel free to hit me in an email or pm. I have some pics but i can tell you that in about two hours from parking the vehicle i can have it out and torn apart, It is as simple as it comes. Can you do me a favor though? Can you take a pic of the shift linkage under and the shifter in cab? I think my shift lever is installed backward. Or anyone else for that matter! Let me know what you need bro and hope it goes well!
