Bill... when you pull your choke closed LOL do you find the pressure from the exhaust trying to push it back open? are you using a regular ol choke cable or a throttle lock cable?
Thats got to be a van to get that picture. Nice work on that cable action . Can you use it as a jake brake? I've been thinking about this cable thing. Thanks for the pics.
I have mine on a switch, but it quit working after a year or so, so I just disabled it entirely for lack of time to fool with it. But, it most definitely worked as a brake.
And sounded cool!
I too thought about operating it manually somehow, as there is about a 2 second delay when you activated it by switch. I considered looking into a solenoid type of arrangement, but I can never find the time to pursue some of these ideas in depth.
I have to ask, why???
The only thing that thing is good for is to annoy you...
Doesn't work well as an exhaust brake, only time it does is when it's hook to lock the TC, too. And even then, just the TC lock works best.
I'll give you a thumbs up for a cool idea I never thought of, though.
It does help with warmup time.
I really use it for maintaining temps at extended idle times.
Its not just the heat generated from the valve being closed.
When you close the valve the motor rpms drop. Then the PCM
throws more MF and VFDES (fuel) at the motor to get the rpms
back up to spec. This makes for a higher egt at idle of 670rpm.
