Good call!!!!
Your right, pics are an important thing. It would be nice to have a pile of pics to reference down the road if I ever need to, so I will see about hanging around the shop a bit while it's getting done.
Zaner, to answer your question, I know of two people personally who had problems with MotorWorks engines and customer service. They used to have a great reputation but now apparently their machine shop has a few tweekers now, and they are jerks on the phone.
The odometer says 123,000. The truck was lifted and has 37" tires. This work was done before I got the truck and so I don't know what the actual mileage is. Previous owner did not know what the mileage was when the larger tire were put on.
Sounds like a pretty good price for getting it done and even better locally so that you know the shop. Looking at the pics of your rig I would say it's worth it to keep it as well pretty sharp looking.
Well, I got my clutch kit ordered today, got a discount from one of the regulars at my girlfriends bar.
Came in at $286 and change after tax.
Considering a new radiator right now. Not sure if I am gonna get mine flushed and put in an aftermarket oil cooler or just get a new radiator.
Does anybody know if these trucks use the radiator as an oil cooler or do they usually have a seperate cooler?
ind of hard to tell on my truck what was original and what isn't, but it has an extra cooler right now that looks like a tranny oil cooler and I am assuming it is for the oil, just havent traced it out yet. (Got a manual tranny so it's not a tranny fluid cooler)
So does anybody know what the STOCK configuration of the oil cooling system was originally?
i have a 2008 v10 motor tranny and transvercase for sale it only has 15,000 miles motor has all acc. with it took the unit out to put in a 588 ROUSH motor in call if your insterested 561-308 0490 chris

The odometer says....
Thanks for the info. They were the lowest I had found until reading your thread so I wondered how they rated. I'm in a similar situation to you but I'll have to wait until I can get our tax refund before I can buy a motor. Thanks again.
Hope I helped Zaner.
I got my clutch kit today!!! It's a brand new LUK Repset Pro Gold Performance series, part #07-191. This thing is awesome. I got it ordered from a family friend for his cost, $290 to his shop. All the other places in town here were between $350 and $415, so I saved a bit more moohlah there. I also got my Water Wetter in the mail today. Red Line Synthetic Oil - Water Wetter® Coolant Additives
I ordered a new heater core and hoses for it from Ed the Parts Guy. He was really helpful with helping me get all the parts I needed to do that job. It will be nice not to be huffing antifreeze vapor in the cab anymore, and I am sure the dog will appreciate it too.
The engine should be ready on Friday, dressed in fresh black paint. A close friend recommended his fleet mechanic for the work (ASE Master Tech), and he will do all the work for me while I am working out of town for 4 weeks. This will give him plenty of time to work on it and I won't end up putting pressure on him to rush it due to my being anxious. I don't really know how much he will be into taking pictures throught his workday on it, but I will run it by him. I was going to have a guy do it this weekend, but decided I would rather go with someone I trusts recommendation, and the fact that he will store it and even drive it for a few days when he is done is comforting.
I know there are a lot of other things I will end up replacing like plugs, belt, etc.
Is there a general consensus on the best plug for the V10?
Oh yes, definitely helped. That was the kind of info I was looking for. I'll steer clear of MotorWorks.

I can't find the thread but I read here on FTE that Autolite makes the Motorcraft plugs so you can save a little change by buying the Autolite brand rather than Motorcraft but still have the same plugs. The Motorcraft plugs for the 6.8L are platinum so the Autolite's part # is A-103 or if you want to go a step higher the double platinum plugs are APP-103.
