Does anyone know where I can get a vacuum pump pulley for a 7.3 in an 89' model? I've searched all over Ebay and the net. I can easily find a new vacuum pump, but I haven't had any luck finding a pulley. I realize a salvage yard is probably the best bet, but unfortunately I'm 100 miles or so from the closest salvage yard.
It has the v belt that runs off of the front groove from the alternator pulley. Mine I messed up when I was removing it from the old vacuum pump. I could probably salvage it, but I'm afraid I'll never get it true which will more than likely knock the bearing out of the new vacuum pump.
SW Nebraska. I just ordered one from the local ford garage. It cost 53 bucks, but that's cheaper than having to drive a couple hundred miles to pick one up at a salvage yard.
I had the same problem with mine. Why can't they make it a little easier on a guy and have a pulley already installed on the pump? Just to save them 5 bucks. Heated mine up and got it as strait as I could, I don't think it will screw the bearings up all the fast, but I've been wrong many times before.
Here's the link. It specifically states it's a vacuum pump pulley remover for new and older Ford diesels. 7922 OTC Tools & Equipment Ford Diesel Vacuum Pump Pulley Remover Jaws
