I'm converting to power steering with manual transmission (column shift). I have the pump (rebuilt), pump mounting bracket, and steering gear from a '73. My current setup has two belts driving the alternator, but the water pump pulley has an unused sheave in front of the two alternator drive sheaves. This unused sheave lines up fore/aft with the p/s pump pulley when mounted on the bracket. My crankshaft pulley only has two sheaves. It seems that I need a crankshaft pulley with three sheaves. The overall diameter of my current crankshaft pulley is 6 3/4" and the center hole is 2".
If you've been patient enough to follow this far, maybe you can tell me:
A. A source for a new pulley. I have a ford p/n that may be right D0ZZ-6A312-A. Partsvoice only comes back with one and Perogie Enterprises says no dice.
or
B. A passenger car/engine (FE) combination that I might find in a salvage yard that will have the right pulley.
I know this is rather complex, but any help will be appreciated.
Hey, I have just gone down a very similar path. I spent about a month trying to find pulleys and brackets that would work with no luck. I have a 1994 351W that I converted to the old style V-belt system. After looking in junk yards and so forth, I was about to give up. I wanted to save some $$, but after a while it is worth the money just to have everything work correctly. I called March Performance Pulleys & Brackets and talked to a person on their tech line. They matched up everything that I needed and shipped it to my door. Everything just bolted right up, works great and looks good too. Yes, it was pricy but well worth it to me.
Thanks, Beast. I'll be in touch with them ASAP. You're right, there comes a point in many endeavors where you just bite the bullet and open the wallet.
